Website Design Thoughts?

Posted: May 31st, 2009 under Website Design.

Ed J asked:

Hi Everyone,

I have recently set up this website and I was wondering what you thought of the design and content of it:

http://www.fashionperfect.co.uk

Please let me know, thanks.

  1. Good layout but too simple. Maybe add a more dynamic flash header on top, or at least a more complex image.
Also the Polls99 thing is not showing, make sure the OBJECT tag is ok (I checked and its not pointing to your PC which is good)
    Good luck

  2. I’d ditch the banner ad on top, makes you look desperate like some cheap geocities site or something.
Also, get a better donate button, paypal has some really good ones.

Oh and if you could get something that would all me to navigate through all your articles, on the front page, that would be great. I really don’t have time to hit “next page” a million times.

I like the contrasting Blue/Pink button because it really stands out. The survey could use some color because it just looks like one of those ads that you ignore.

i wish you had some pictures of fashion or something too (stock photography is free to use if you check the licensing) it just looks like a poor mans blog otherwise.

I like the side ad placement and I think it’s good adspace for you to use.

Writings good, but i think you should have at lease one picture per post. it would catch the eye more and make it more interesting to read.

  3. Well if you read my Question then you’ll understand that I am no an expert my any stretch of the imagination. But I think it looks great and very professional. I’m not a cridic just a user and that is probably whose opinion you would want to know anyhow, right? Great job!!! Any thoughts about my challenge?

  4. Well, I thought it was fairly nice but not enough.

Here are some advices I can give to you:

    1. The font for “Fashion Perfect” should turn to a thick ‘Edwardian Script IT’. Make it look classy and attractive to be looked at based on the name of the website. Put a some picture on the header to represent the idea of “Fashion Perfect”. Probably a woman in an elegant red dress like something from E! Style Star. And you should change the color font of “Fashion Perfect” to a rosy red instead of lavender.

    2. The “Your Potential, Our Perfection” should be written in ‘Pristina’ font in size 20. You can maintain the color black or probably change it to maroon or dark purple.

    3. Squeeze in the layout/post a wee bit to see more of the color background. You could change the color of the font to much fashionable color like glossy red or soft red. Anything that goes well with the name “Fashion Perfect” and the description. Maybe put some graphics in the background.

    For like examples:

    4. Make the add’s a bit smaller. Because I think some of the clients think it’s almost an eye-sore to see some of the adds take a quarter of the page. So quiz in some of the add’s and pick add’s that really go well with the overall theme of the website page.

    5. The background page for all of the posts. Instead of pure white, go for a really, really soft pink color that sort of balances the contrast of the font color and the add’s. Change the font to a ‘Arial’ or ‘Georgia’ around the font size of 10 or 12. And change the color from black to really dark red (that’s somewhat close to black)

    6. The post title. Make them a very different color that goes well with the post font, probably… to magenta. Make them bold and make them stand out more than the contents of the post.

    7. Change/put more links/pictures/columns on the pages. Example: “Gallery”, “Info”, “News”.. Change the front page and write a post that talks about the purpose of “Fashion Perfect” and let the clients choose the columns. That would automatically gives the clients a sense of content to see how the blog was professionally arranged.

    8. Change the website links. Instead of making them the normal navy blue, change them to black instead or dark maroon.

Okay, I’m pretty done with my opinion now. I’m really sorry that I wrote a REALLY love answer. But I tried my best and hopefully it worked out. ^^! XD

    Good luck!

P.S: ONE MORE THING! I totally RECOMMEND you to see these examples in case you can really figure the layout properly.
But I warn you, I have given you the credits and sample of the page itself. If you attempt in plagiarizing the page, I will report you. I do not tolerate art theft.

  5. lose the ChristianLouboutinbox.com ad banner at the top an use the xtra space to create a reflection of the heading t jazz it up a bit, if u must keep the ads use adsense with a 3 column layout to center ur content between the ads an links to keep them neat an out of the way

  6. I think its cool. Just one thing: on the Beth Ditto collection page, is it possible to show the translation for the prices in US dollars?

  7. Not bad really but I woud review the outlining, font, put the right column on the left. Put the donate and tips button down (!)

I like the appearance but needs some ‘maturing’.

The logo (header) must be more convincing and professional, it’s too ‘girly’ (try XaraXtreme to make a header !)

The polo drawings pull the site down.

    More usefull info:
